In the mid-1990s, Case International Company acquired a 146-acre parcel in the Briargate area from Hewlett Packard Company. Since that acquisition, we have processed a re-zone of 120 acres of the property to residential and sold it to Classic Communities and also sold 12.45 acres to the City of Colorado Springs as a park site in a combination sale/donation. The principals of Case International Company are familiar with the Internal Revenue Code Section 1031 and have been successful in exchanging real estate under that code in several recent transactions. The Case Family is presently associated with the ownership and direct management of one downtown Colorado Springs office building and several shoppettes.
